Overview:
Looking for a fun team bonding exercise for your next meeting? Elephant Trunk Relay will get your team up, moving, and more importantly…laughing. Your team won’t be able to take themselves too seriously during this activity. Two team members will wear panty hose around their heads. It’s not just for giggles, these panty hose will have a baseball tucked into one of the feet. The team members must strategically move their heads to use their dangling baseball to knock over water bottles. The first team to knock over all 8 water bottles wins!
Would you like to make this activity even more challenging?
If you would like to test your teams’ communication skills, incorporate blindfolds into the mix. Have your panty hose wearing team member remain blindfolded during the activity. The rest of the team may provide verbal instructions. If that’s too challenging, you can allow the team to physically reposition the individual (not the panty hose/baseball) to make it a bit easier.
Equipment Required:
Panty Hose (2 per team). Baseball (2 per team). Plastic water bottles (8 per team).
Optional – Blindfolds (1 per team)
Space Required: Medium to Large.
Group Size: 5 to 80
Total Time: 20 Minutes
- 5 minutes to brief the activity.
- 5-10 minutes to complete the activity.
- 5 minutes to debrief the activity.
Instructions:
- Divide the group into teams of 5.
- Set up a station for each team. Each station should have an open area with 8 water bottles spread out.
- Brief the team on the activity and their team roles. Two team members will wear panty hose around their heads. These panty hose will have a baseball tucked into one of the feet. Team members will then strategically move their heads to use their dangling baseball to knock over water bottles. Once team member 1 successfully knocks over the first two water bottles, team member 2 moves on to knock over the next 2 bottles. During that time, team member 1 hands off their panty hose and baseball to team member 3. This step repeats until 4 team members have each knocked over 2 water bottles. One remaining team member should be elected as the historian. They will take pictures to document the activity and provide encouragement to their teams. The first team to knock over all 8 water bottles wins!
- Announce the winner and debrief the activity.
